Mister Fisk wins pennant!
Cursing the curse of the Bambino, Mister Fisk was the lucky rabbit’s foot that won the Red Sox the 2004 pennant. Yes, a rock band from Portland, Oregon did it. Mister Fisk is four friends that got together in October 2004 to rock the basement and run upstairs to catch the Red Sox just at the right time, to bless, not to jinx. Any wrong song played and a ball might roll through the first baseman’s legs, the series lost. But we played Phish, Talking Heads, Rolling Stones, Neil Young, and worked up an original with the lyrics “ride on my weathered dream.” Any Red Sox fan knows just how weathered dreams can get. So our chords were heard across the world or at least over Fenway Park’s green monster. That’s how curses are broken and World Series won.
Mister Fisk is Andrew McGough drums, Erik Merrill bass, Chris Wilson lead guitar and vocals, and Scott Crabtree lead vocals and rhythm guitar. The band is family. We write songs and raise our kids together. Since 2004, we’ve played pubs, parties, weddings, and benefits. Send us an email, and we’ll gig for you.
